A couple random tidbits
…K discovered yesterday that not only is helping Mommy with laundry fun, but an empty dryer makes an excellent echo-ey chamber when it is empty and you stick your head inside and start yelling. (and no, I did not demonstrate this feature–she figured it all out on her own.)
…Mommy has a cold and has been keeping odd hours the last few days. Yesterday afternoon, K came in to chatter and wake Mommy up during one such nap. When not receiving satisfactory motherly responses, she ran out of the room, to her bookcase, and grabbed a couple books, hauled them up onto the bed and started to “read” me stories. Unfortunately I was semi comatose and have no clear idea what she was reading, but it sure sounded animated. At the end she told me “Ok now you can go to sleep after your stories.”
…The kid is a junkie for mopping. She is a pernicious mopper. She will wrestle the mop from you and hoard it away while lovingly stroking the floor. Don’t even think of trying to reclaim it. While this is absolutely a positive thing (hey doesn’t everyone wish for a mini mop monkey to do the housework?) it is unfortunate that her quality standards are not quite as neurotic as mine. So invariably I still have to sneak in some quality-control mopping or spot cleaning afterwards. I can ignore the dirt, hair, grime, dustbunnies just fine for weeks until actually cleaning them. At that juncture, I.cannot.turn.a.blind.eye. This is why I do all those sorts of related housework items because FF learned long ago not to mess with my neurotic cleaning QC issues. This is one of the reasons our marriage works so well. He does all the dishes, cooking, laundry (but I have to do the folding!) and trash, and I clean the bathrooms, tile floors, counters, etc. We split the vacuuming. I’m not too neurotic when it comes to vacuuming, fortunately. And we are both ridiculous “pilers/stackers”. Please pray you don’t ever see our desks/table. Thank god we are compatible on this issue, otherwise it never would have worked.
